About Us

Founded in 2018, Sisters Keeper is a non profit organization that is championing the fight against gender based violence in the country first and later intends to expand beyond Uganda’s borders. We help victims by offering professional counselling services, advocacy and in some cases we try to offer medical assistance most especially for victims within the area of Mukono district. At inception our main focus was to in universities and secondary schools as students are very vulnerable and yet not much is being done to provide necessary assistance, but along the way we also reached out to communities mostly rural which have high prevalent numbers of gender based violence.

Since inception, we have been able to introduce the ‘KIGWALEERO CAMPAIGN’ (it ends today) - through which we have been able to reach out to numerous universities in the country like Ndejje University, Uganda Christian University Mukono, Buganda Royal Institute and also communities in Mukono, Jinja and Mengo carrying out activities like community outreach, sensitization and professional counselling services for victims.

At SISTER’S KEEPER ORGANIZATION, we believe more in prevention rather than cure and so we developed a mobile application which is enables someone faced with Imminent danger to be able to call out for emergency help by just the tap of a button which alerts any 5 people including the Uganda Police Force instantly and also provides information regarding the sender like their location. We are currently locked in negotiations with The Uganda Police Force on how we can integrate the fight against gender based violence with their work at a national level.

In a nutshell, we are propagating advocacy for victims, providing emergency response when faced with imminent danger as well as undertaking community outreach and sensitization; with universities and secondary schools being part of the communities.

A wonderful organisation with proper drive and a true aim. - Brian Reed
